Douglas Roest-Gyimah, LCSW-R

CEO

Douglas is a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has over a decade of experience working in human-services settings.

That experience ranges from addiction treatment to therapy in prisons and schools. Finally, Douglas has had the pleasure of starting a mental health practice from the ground up. His new passion is to create a healthy work environment for his employees, something that is all-too rare in the field of human services.

In addition to running Upstate Counseling, Douglas promotes mindfulness and self-compassion through his social media channels and writings. He is also an avid woodworker.

Nina Smith

COO

Nina is a graduate of Clarkson University where she received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) focused in Health Management. Nina has 8+ years of education specifically focused in health care management and administration.

Throughout her professional experience, Nina has focused her work in the field of mental health. She is passionate about studying discrepancies in the delivery of care among underserved populations and is eager to find solutions to expand access to care.

In her free time, Nina enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her kittens, Astro and Archie!

Shannon Vandebogart

Administrative Assistant

Shannon is Upstate Counseling's Administrative Assistant and handles all things related to intake and scheduling new clients. Shannon has 9+ years of professional experience on both the clinical and administrative side of health care delivery. 

In her free time, Shannon enjoys crocheting and doing puzzles with her family.
